There is still that niggling fear in the fact that this man could shoot him in the back. Between that and the crawling sensation down his spine, he's on edge. On edge enough that he finds himself answering, helping deflect some of that shame. ]
This is nothing I have experience with either. I...don't like it. I needed a better plan.

[ His ego hurts a little and he totally wants to come back here some other time, when he finds his balls again and just end the damn thing. It's a matter of pride. But for now, it's out into brighter areas with his tail between his legs. He'll likely never find reason to do it though.
Which seems a good idea, because as they get further and it gets brighter, the utter fear lessens until he can slow completely. Slow and turn, now fully lit by the light through the canopy. His shield goes down and he gives the man a sheepish smile.

[ the change in conversation is something he appreciates, though he doesn't say it. it's a strange thing, isn't it? years of practicing restraint, of being cool and collected, gone in a flash.

Actually, I'd left him outside the undergrowth while I looked for the creature. Figured that if I got into trouble, he might be able to help later.

[ Reinhardt scratches his beard a little trying not to feel so ashamed of how he had acted. So he just focuses on the dog. It's better than anything else he can think of. Like why he had been so damn afraid.]

[ Because Reinhardt needs a damn beer after that, and he sort of thinks food will make up for the fact that he had put his shield up between himself and Ocelot. He had treated this man as an enemy. ]
[ when DD hears the word "steak", his ears immediately perk up, and a ghost of a smile actually manages to cross Ocelot's face. while still unsettled by the whole ordeal... ]
Well, I think it's pretty obvious what he wants. And, I wouldn't say no to a drink.

[ Reinhardt actually manages a laugh. It's not half as hearty and boisterous as his usually are. He knows he's going to be thrown for a while. But food and drink with someone who understands why he's still on edge will help. ]

[ He takes one more look back into the jungles with a scowl, adjusts the vambrace with a deep calming breath and then turns to head back. This time though, he'll keep his steps shorter, in keeping with his companion's height. ]
[ he can feel some of the calm returning to him, still unable to fully comprehend what had done that. but, at least, he's starting to feel more like the current version of himself, and less like a twenty year old who found himself in just a little too much over his head. ]
I've seen some strange things back home, but usually I can at least see them.

It's bad enough that I'm already halfway there [ he reaches to lightly tap the bottom of the huge scar that took his eye ] I really hate it when I can't see what I'm fighting. One day I will put bright lights on my armor and I will go back out there. I will go out there and I will END that thing. Whatever it was.
[ well, isn't that a nice sentiment. although, in Ocelot's line of work owing someone "nothing" rarely meant that at all.

No, I haven't, though I will admit there was a time when I missed every single thing I grabbed it. It was really very frustrating. My new unit must have learned a lot of very interesting German swears from me. [ After all, he went straight from Eichenwalde to Overwatch, without any time in between to really heal. He had needed the distraction. ]
And of course I will, Mein Freund. Between the two of us, we will crush it! And DD can come too, so that we don't get lost coming back out victorious. But for now, semi-decent beer calls.
[ He'll just throw a heavy arm over Ocelot's shoulders and head off as if nothing had ever happened. Just two friends going to get drunk. ]
